William Morris, A classic Sussex Arts & Crafts ebonised armchair from the Sussex range.

Fully restored with a new rush seat.

We have been restoring Sussex armchairs for over 30 years and to be fully restored correctly with a new rush seat, we first gently dismantle the chairs labelling each component, cleaning all the joints, re gluing re assembly and then each chair is clamped overnight until the glue dries. This should always be completed before the new rush is laid because if not and the chair becomes loose at the joints after the new rush has been laid, then the new rush will have to be cut off to be able restore the chairs.

We have a rush seat specialist who weaves the new rush which is fine rush, it takes a little longer but is in keeping with how they were originally rushed.
