Liberty and Co. A rare and unusual Moorish oval eight leg side table

POA

Liberty and Co.

A rare and unusual Moorish oval eight leg side table with a brass removable top embossed with a medieval lioness holding a sword while her cub feeds from her. With eight arched fretwork panels running around the upper section the fine turned legs uniting the lower shelf raised Musharabieh turnings within a gallery running around the sides. The legs have a double raised turned detail below and above the lower shelf a subtle detail taking them to elegant slender sabre feet.

A similar table is Illustrated in Liberty's Furniture 1875-1915. The Birth of Modern Interior Design. By Daryl Bennet. Illustration 1.36.
