SOLD

Hart, Son, and Peard. William Burgess in the style of.

An English Aesthetic Movement/Gothic Revival fire grate with dog head finials with offset square collars below and incised decorative chevron details to the uprights with trefoil-designed feet. The front bars are round to the centre and a square bar above with a wavey detail to the top edge. The sides with sweeping design and three concave rosettes to the back. Retaining its original fire bricks and ready for use. The back with three convex rosettes and a lozenge kite mark that dates it for 1868 and 96B which is probably the design number.

William Burges designed fire grates for Hart, Son, and Peard (see second from the last image).

The grate I have available is certainly comparable to his designs for the company. Also see the last image of the Hart, Son & Peard catalog.
