G. M. Ellwood for J. S. Henry
A rare progressive new art armchair. The rounded top follows down the backrest sides and meets the rounded roll over arms that in turn join the rear legs, a very particular well-designed intersection of three parts of the back of the armchair, a subtle design detail that makes it very strong and shows Ellwood's mastery of design.
The fronts of the arms have fruitwood circular inlays which correspond to the circular inlays, two on each side, with copper hearts around each circle. A semi-circular front stretcher echoes the semi-circular headrest.
