E W Godwin attri. An Anglo-Japanese quarter sawn oak side table. The top with a double molded edge with simple slatted decoration below and incised tramline decoration to the top and bottom side rails. The Japanese style stretchers below are mitre jointed to the legs, then cross and meet in the centre using exposed through joints. That central detail within the stretcher is a symbol in Japan that represents abundance, prosperity, and long life. The elegance of this simple table is accentuated by the slender slightly exaggerated splayed feet.
