POA

Dr C Dresser manufactured for the Art Furniture Alliance. A rare and important Aesthetic Movement armchair. This armchair design is a radical leap into the future, reminiscent of a grasshopper. Dresser is looking at ways to design a stylish armchair while overcoming the stresses the joints come under that hold an armchair together. The back side supports run down through the back of the arm and join to the seat side stretchers, the back legs rise up and join to the back side supports, then finish and join to the underside of the arms, giving immense strength to the frame of the armchair but at the same time creating a striking original design that looks as modern today as it did when it was made in the early 1880s.
