Anglo-Japanese Walnut and Caned Seat Side Chair, Attributed to E W Godwin

SOLD

Anglo-Japanese walnut side chair, attributed to E W Godwin.

Probably made by William Watt.

The turnings to the back rest and the turned legs and stretchers with incised or scribed detailed lines grouped in sets of three are all details from other Godwin chair designs. The front legs with little pad feet are identical to his famous Anglo-Japanese occasional tables.

Professionally re-caned, copying the original work which was distressed when I acquired it.
