Charles Spooner. A rare Arts & Crafts oak bureau bookcase with moulded cornice and large quarter veneered panels to the upper cupboard including opposing strip veneers around the edges of both doors, and diamond veneered panels to the back of the fall front writing area, which opens to reveal two small drawers and a row of pigeon holes for letters and papers. Stood on square legs with squashed ball feet united by serpentine stretchers.

A.W.N Pugin, designed for East Horsley Park, a small Tudor/Gothic house designed by Sir Charles Barry and built for William Currie, which then past onto the 1st Earl of Lovelace, who was raised to that peerage in Queen Victoria's Assession Honours list of 1838. In 1835 he married Ada Byron, only daughter of the celebrated poet Lord Byron. She was an important figure, a mathematician and writer, who is known for her work on Charles Babbage's early mechanical computer and is often regarded as the first computer programmer.
Sir Charles Barry and Pugin who later entered together and won the competition to rebuild the Houses of Parliament after the great fire in 1835.

A rare Gothic Revival oak Partners desk attributed to Alfred Water House with large open writing area and a pair of drawers to each side and a turned gallery to each end and below the drawers with central opening for more leg room. The graduating turned legs united by conforming turned gallery to each end on original brass and ceramic castors. A well designed architectural desk for two people if required with lots of leg room and work area to accommodate.

George Montague Ellwood (1875-1955) for J.S. Henry, an oak writing desk with sloping pen compartment just above the writing area flanked by stylised inlaid details of a pair of Quills in ink pots the inlays of fruitwoods and copper, with fold out divided letter compartments to each upper side, a well designed extended writing area with a pair of drawers below with open bookcases to each side. The handles to the pen, letter compartments and to the drawers are after a design by C.F.A. Voysey, who also designed for J.S. Henry.

A rare well designed very good quality Arts & Crafts metamorphic knee hole quarter sawn oak architects or artist desk with a rising adjustable work area that has three different height positions. The three drawers to the right-hand side each have a removable tidy tray, with a pull out slide to the top for pens and a little extra work area.
The spacious knee hole area has a foot rest which units to the left-hand side legs and side stretchers.
I do have the missing handle.
